I’m interested in research that is grounded in theory (statistics) with practical applications (deep learning).

In particular, I like to use nonparametric statistics, Monte Carlo methods, and randomized algorithms to study how models represent, retrieve, and compress information.

Additionally, for models to be practical (be it in comp bio, robotics), I like to ensure they’re scalable (systems) and robust (data-driven learning).

Since I’m still an undergrad, these interests will probably evolve.

Hobbies include shogi (Japanese chess), judo, and the violin. I’m fluent in English and Japanese, my German is passable.
